Remember Beethoven from last week

This week it’s your turn!

Here is Beethoven’s bassline, let’s make it our own!

Try This!

Try harmonizing this bass line in Beethoven’s harmonic rhythm (the beginning will feel like the harmony moves slow, the end will feel like it moves fast)
Make a melody using mostly half notes and chord tones.
Develop that melody, try adding some passing or neighbour notes and some smaller note values.
Try making lots of different melodies using the simple tools we have already used. In your melodies try to capture the slow moving harmony at the beginning of the phrase and the fast moving harmony at the end of the phrase.
